Upcoming Parks and Recreation Programs
PROGRAMS

Shorin Ryu Karate
Shorin Ryu Karate was the first form of systematized karate.  This program offers a study of this Okinawan Martial Art.  Participants are ages 13 to adult.  The class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00PM – 7:30PM in the downstairs of the Town Hall Annex.  To register, please contact Wil Santos at 267-6190.  The cost is $20 for ages 13-18 and $25 for adults.  

Open Tennis For Adults
Mixed Doubles Adult Tennis Program meets at the East Hampton High School tennis courts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8:30.  The program is open play, come only days you want to play, partners are not required and there is no fee or pre-registration required. For more information contact Jim Doering at 657-2992.  

Six Flags and Lake Compounce Tickets
Discounted Six Flags and Lake Compounce tickets are available at the East Hampton Parks and Recreation Office!  There is a one time enrollment fee of $5 per family.  Six Flags tickets are $27.00.  Lake Compounce tickets are $24.95.  

Swim Lessons
Registration is open for swim lessons at Lake Pocotopaug this summer.  Session One is July 7 – July 17.  Session Two is July 21 – July 31.  Lessons meet at 10:00AM, 11:00AM, 5:00PM or 6:00PM.  The cost is $40 per child per session, $65 for a family with two children or $80 maximum per family.  Lessons are available for children of all ages.  
 
Soccer Club Training Camp
The purpose of this camp is to teach individual and team skills at a level equal to or above the child’s ability in a positive progressive environment.  Sportsmanship, teamwork and fair play are emphasized.  Campers entering grades 1-8 will receive a soccer ball, water bottle and raffle prize.  Soccer Club Training Camp meets at the East Hampton High School Athletic Complex from 9:00AM – 12:00PM July 28 – August 1.  The cost is $140.

All Sports Camp
This All Sports summer camp offers a variety of different sports activities for your young athlete.  Participants choose from activities including soccer, baseball, basketball, Frisbee, dodge, coaches’ choice, tennis and volleyball.  Times and details are available on the special registration form available at the East Hampton Parks and Recreation Office.  Week one is July 7 – July 11 (For boys and girls entering grades 1-6).  Week Two is July 14 – July 18, 2008 (For boys and girls entering grades 3-8).  The cost is $275 – Both weeks all day, $140 – one week all day, $100 -one week, two activities, $70 - one week, one activity.  


Intro to Football
Whether you are new to the game of football or just want to brush up on your skills this clinic has something for you.  Activities include strength and conditioning training, basic plays, throwing, catching and blocking.  Each day will be concluded by a touch football game.  The program is for boys and girls ages 6-13 and meets July 21 – 25 at East Hampton Middle School.  The cost is $45.  

Offensive Basketball Clinic
This specialized basketball clinic is for all abilities.  Each player receives 2½ hrs of individual instruction each day.  Coaches focus on the development of skills.  The clinic meets July 21 – 25 at East Hampton High School.  Boys entering grades 4-12 meet at 9:00AM – 11:30AM.  Girls entering grades 4-12 meet at 12:00PM – 2:30PM.  The cost is $90.  

Skyhawks Volleyball
This volleyball clinic focuses on serving, hitting, spiking and setting using fun games.  The clinic is for boys and girls ages 8-14 and meets at East Hampton Middle School July 21 – 25.  The cost is $105.  

Tee-Ball Clinic
Participants will learn the skills required for success in youth baseball.  This program is a blast for young ball players ages 4-8.  The program meets at East Hampton Middle School July 14 – 18 from 9:00AM – 12:00PM.  The cost is $105.  

Babysitting Course
Participants ages 11½ and up are taught the practical skills needed to become a certified babysitter.  Participants should bring a pen, paper, snack and a drink to class.  The class meets at the Parks and Recreation Office from 6:15 – 8:30PM on July 21, 23 and 28.  The cost is $70 and includes a text book.   

Beginner’s Golf
This beginner golf clinic is for children ages 5-11 years old.  Children will learn the basics of golf technique.  The program meets Monday – Friday July 7-11 at East Hampton Middle School.  5-7 year olds meet at 9:00 – 10:30AM 8-11 year olds meet at 10:30AM – 12:00PM.  The cost is $100.  

Bellringer Track and Field Clinic
This introduction to Track and Field hosted by coach Bill Wilike will introduce young athletes entering grades 3-8 in the fall of 2008 to the world of Track and Field.  Each day will offer training in long jump, high jump, Javelin, discus, shot out, hurdles, starting blocks, sprinting, relay techniques, running technique, conditioning and distance events.  The program meets at East Hampton High School July 28 – August 1 from 5:30 – 8:00PM.  The cost is $80.  

Cheerleading Clinic
This cheerleading camp offers a week of cheers, chants and fun games!  Participants will be taught proper motion and jumping techniques for all aspects of cheering.  The camp is for boys and girls ages 8-14 and runs 9:00AM – 12:00PM, July 28 – August 1.  Camp meets at the East Hampton Middle School Athletic Fields.  The cost is $105   

Beginner’s Lacrosse Clinic
This lacrosse program is ideal for entry level players.  Players can experience stick handling, passing, scooping, dodging and shooting as well as many other fundamental techniques.  The clinic is for boys and girls ages 7-14.  The clinic meets 5:00PM – 7:00PM, August 4 – August 8 at the East Hampton Middle School Athletic Fields.  The cost is $95.  

High School Boys Soccer Clinic
This clinic covers fundamental training drills that are designed to develop the specific skills and responsibilities of each position.  Each day will end with a supervised match.  The clinic is for boys entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2008.  The clinic meets August 4 – August 8 from 9:00AM – 12:00PM at the East Hampton High School Athletic Complex.  The cost is $125.  

Basketball Clinic
This basketball clinic for boys and girls ages 4-8 will help your young athlete learn the basic fundamentals of the game.  The clinic meets from July 28 – August 1 from 9:00AM – 12:00PM at the East Hampton Middle School Outdoor Basketball Courts.  The cost is $105.  

Tennis Clinic
This tennis clinic will teach children the basic fundamentals of tennis.  The camp is ideal for players that are beginner to intermediate level.  The clinic meets July 21 – July 25 at the East Hampton High School Tennis Courts.  Boys and girls ages 7-10 meet at 4:00PM – 5:30PM.  Boys and Girls ages 11-14 meet at 5:30PM – 7:00PM.  The cost is $100.  

Archery Lessons
Our Archery Lessons teach concentration, attention to detail and patience.  The classes emphasize safety in a positive learning environment.  Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced classes are offered.  Participants ages 8 and up are divided by ability level.  The summer session meets from 3:00PM – 4:00PM July 21 – July 25 at Center School.  The cost is $60 for 5 lessons.
